Hamadan Library, Central Dome (1998)
Description: The library is the largest one in the western part of the country, located in Hamadan, Iran. The concrete structure features a system that has been studied for its economic viability. A 54’ length of girders has been used. The dome has a diameter of 50’ as a reinforced concrete shell structure with 6” shell thickness. Rock bolts were used to connect the foundation to the granite surface of the hill, which was a unique feature of the project.
